HSBC Private Bank launches HSBC Access in Singapore
Eligible clients can access investment opportunities involving high-growth innovation companies through a range of investment structures. This is the first time HSBC Private Bank clients in Singapore have been able to access this type of opportunity since HSBC Innovation Banking launched locally in October 2025 with a dedicated US$1.5bn funding pool for high-growth innovation companies.
HSBC Access offers a range of investment opportunities, including venture capital funds, private market and direct investment opportunities, some of which were previously available only to institutional clients. Some of these opportunities are sourced from HSBC’s Corporate and Institutional Banking and Innovation Banking businesses.
This builds on growing collaboration across HSBC’s businesses. Across Asia, new Private Bank relationships arising from referrals from Corporate and Institutional Banking increased over 50% year-on-year in the first half of 2026.
In addition, HSBC Access provides specialist insights and intelligence from across HSBC’s corporate, trade and innovation banking businesses. The proposition also facilitates curated introductions to individuals and businesses, such as founders of technology start-ups, strengthening HSBC’s support for the innovation ecosystem. In Singapore, it complements Innovation Exchange, part of HSBC Private Bank’s enhanced entrepreneurial wealth proposition to connect clients with entrepreneurs and ventures across Asia’s innovation economy.
Singapore is a leading innovation and private capital hub in Asia. According to Startup Genome, the city state is home to more than 4,500 technology start-ups, over 500 venture capital firms and more than 220 incubators, venture builders and accelerators. It is also a leading family office hub in Asia. Monetary Authority of Singapore figures show more than 2,000 single family offices had been awarded tax incentives as at the end of 2025, and the revised MAS framework that took effect in June 2026 has further streamlined the path for families setting up here.
The launch comes as a new generation of wealth owners in Singapore looks for direct exposure to the companies and founders driving that growth, rather than access through public markets alone.
Tommy Leung, Head of Private Bank, South Asia, HSBC, said: “Close to two thirds of our private bank clients in Singapore are entrepreneurs, and the wealth they have created is now moving to a generation that thinks about investing differently. Founders and their families want to be close to the companies shaping the innovation economy, not one step removed from it. HSBC Access gives them a direct route into private investment opportunities sourced from across our corporate and innovation banking network, alongside the wealth planning and succession advice that turns business success into a lasting legacy.”
Gilbert Ng, Head of Banking, Corporate and Institutional Banking, HSBC Singapore, said: “HSBC supports businesses in Singapore across their full life cycle, from venture-backed start-ups through to the largest corporates in the region, and that breadth of coverage makes HSBC Access possible. We help high-growth businesses scale by providing them access to unique sources of both debt and equity capital. Connecting these businesses to our Private Bank clients brings founders and capital together, reinforcing Singapore’s position as a leading innovation and wealth hub.”
Following its initial launch in Hong Kong, Singapore is the second market to introduce HSBC Access.
As the world’s largest trade bank, HSBC has unrivalled access to the real economy, with over 5,000 trade specialists in more than 50 markets. HSBC Innovation Banking operates at the centre of the global innovation economy, capturing around 70 per cent of global venture capital flows.
HSBC remains committed to Singapore as an international wealth and wholesale banking hub. Singapore is a priority market and the fifth-largest geographic contributor to Group profit before tax, as well as HSBC’s primary wholesale offshore booking centre and wealth hub in ASEAN. The bank continues to invest in its capabilities, distribution and client experience in Singapore, including doubling technology spend over five years, increasing investment fivefold in its physical network, and opening four new Wealth Centres since 2024. More recently, HSBC announced plans to hire more than 100 AI specialists and establish a Global AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore, alongside plans to hire 100 additional relationship managers.
