HSBC becomes official partner of the Argentina Football Association in Singapore and India

The Argentina Football Association (AFA) and HSBC have today announced the signing of a new one-year partnership agreement for Singapore and India covering the competitive seasons in 2025 and 2026, ahead of the 2026 World Cup Finals qualification matches.

This collaboration bridges the worlds of banking and sport, marking the first time a banking institution has collaborated with the Argentine National Football Team in Singapore and India.

As part of the partnership, the Argentina national football team, including sporting icon Lionel Messi, will visit India in October 2025 and Singapore in the first quarter of 2026 for exhibition matches.

This collaboration bridges the worlds of banking and sport, marking the first time a banking institution has collaborated with the Argentine National Football Team in Singapore and India. Through this agreement, HSBC will hold branding and activation rights across the two countries. HSBC customers and partners will have access to exclusive perks, including tickets to Argentina’s matches, curated fan experiences and meet-and-greet opportunities with the football champions.

The Argentine National Team has a strong following amongst football aficionados in Singapore and India and this association will offer fans across the vibrant region a rare chance to witness memorable moments with some of the sport’s greatest players.

Ashmita Acharya, Managing Director and Head, International Wealth and Premier Banking, HSBC Singapore, said: “At HSBC, we strive to connect our customers in Singapore with the very best the world has to offer - whether in wealth, experiences or global opportunities. This partnership with the Argentina Football Association brings a new dimension of excitement to our customers and proposition, as we celebrate excellence on and off the field. With the Argentine team’s global appeal and strong fanbase in Singapore, we’re proud to create moments that will inspire and unite communities, while deepening our engagement with clients through exclusive access to football’s most iconic champions.”

Claudio Fabian Tapia, President of AFA, said: “We are extremely pleased to have HSBC, Asia’s leading banking institution, as the new sponsor of the Argentine Football Association in India and Singapore. The AFA’s international expansion continues to pave the way for leading companies such as HSBC to join the Argentine National Team family. We welcome HSBC as the new sponsor of the Argentine National Team for India and Singapore.

Leandro Petersen, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer of AFA, said: “This new regional sponsorship with HSBC represents a new step in the global expansion of the AFA brand. Starting in 2020, AFA began by opening its commercial offices in India, identifying key opportunities and building a close relationship with the Indian community. Opening up new markets and internationalizing the AFA brand has been part of the Executive Committee’s strategic vision since 2018, and being able to announce our regional sponsorship demonstrates that this vision was a success. Our mission is to continue adding value to our sponsors and consolidate key regions globally for the coming years. We are delighted that HSBC has chosen the World Champions as its brand image during this exciting period of 2025. We are embarking on the first of many steps ahead with HSBC, with whom we will work together to expand to multiple regions during this period. We are very enthusiastically welcoming HSBC, confident that it will be a success.”
