HSBC Bank (Singapore) Limited announces appointment of James Coyle to its Board

HSBC Bank (Singapore) Limited has announced the appointment of James (Jim) Coyle as Independent Non-executive Director of its Board, effective from 1 September 2024. Jim will be a member of the Board’s Audit and Risk Committees and will become the Chairman of the Risk Committee with effect from 31 December 2024.

Jim is currently a Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Pollen Street PLC. He is also the Deputy Chairman of the Oversight Board and member of the Audit Governance Board of Deloitte LLP and the Audit Chair at Ecclesiastical Insurance Office plc. He was from August 2015 to April 2018 an independent non-executive Director and Risk Chair of HSBC Bank plc and recently an independent non-executive Director of HSBC UK Bank Plc as the Chairman of the Audit Committee, member of the Risk Committee and a member of the Chairman's Nominations and Remuneration Committee from May 2018 to July 2024. He was also the Board Chairman of HSBC Trust Company (UK) Limited from March 2016 to April 2024.

Jim was also previously on the Board of other organisations including Chair of World First UK Limited, Audit and Risk Chair of Scottish Water, Scottish Building Society and Chair of Marks & Spencer Unit Trust Management Limited and Audit and Risk Chair of Marks & Spencer Financial Services plc.

A Chartered Accountant and Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, Jim is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. During his extensive executive career over 35 years, Jim held several senior roles with large financial institutions including Group Chief Accountant for Bank of Scotland and Group Financial Controller/Deputy Group Finance Director at Lloyds Banking Group Plc.
