The HSBC Rain Vortex is ready to dazzle visitors at Jewel

Jewel Changi Airport (Jewel) today announced HSBC as the naming rights partner for what is to be the world’s tallest indoor waterfall - the HSBC Rain Vortex. The partnership will run for a period of five years.

The 40-metre waterfall will cascade through an oculus in the roof of Jewel’s distinctive glass and steel façade. The water will then stream down seven floors to Basement 2, making it a sight to behold from every floor. HSBC, one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations, is the naming rights sponsor for this awe-inspiring water feature.

Hung Jean, Chief Executive Officer of Jewel Changi Airport Devt, said, “We want to offer consumers a multi-sensory experience in Jewel. The design of the HSBC Rain Vortex was inspired by the tropical rains in Singapore and will add novelty and wonder to the entire Jewel experience. Being the centrepiece attraction, visitors will be able to bask in its full glory at different vantage points.”

The HSBC Rain Vortex will set the stage for a mesmerising Light & Sound show, running from 8.30pm to 12.30am daily at hourly intervals. During the show, carefully controlled flow of water from the edge of the oculus will create a cascading bead curtain that will interplay with the projected light imagery. This is enhanced by music and mist effects to create an ethereal guest experience.

From the pool at Level 1 of the Forest Valley, water flows down a two-storey circular acrylic water-wall and provide a unique view for visitors at Basements 1 and 2.

This magnificent attraction was conceptualised by Safdie Architects and created by design consultant WET. Best known for creating the renowned Dubai Fountain and the Fountains of Bellagio at Las Vegas, USA, WET is a multidisciplinary design and engineering firm that has created over two hundred installations worldwide, employing water, fire, light, fog, and music to create one-of-a-kind attractions.

Jewel is scheduled to open on 17 April 2019.
