HSBC strengthens SEA equities capabilities from Singapore

HSBC announces the recent appointment of Edward Lee to Regional Head of Equity Capital Markets, Southeast Asia, and Joy Wang to Head of Southeast Asia Equity Research. Both Singapore-based, these appointments further enhance HSBC’s equities capabilities in Southeast Asia.


Edward Lee

Edward Lee now leads HSBC’s Southeast Asia equity capital markets team, with responsibility for advising and leading clients’ equity transactions.

Edward has over 20 years of investment banking and equity capital markets experience. Prior to HSBC, Edward was Managing Director, Co-Head of Investment Banking Coverage and Head of Equity Capital Markets, Southeast Asia at Deutsche Bank Singapore. Prior to moving to Singapore, Edward was based in Hong Kong as Deutsche Bank’s Head of Equity Linked Origination and had previously worked as an Executive Director for Lehman Brothers in Hong Kong covering Asian Equity Capital Markets.

Edward has worked on numerous landmark equity and equity linked transactions in all major markets in Asia with a primary focus on Southeast Asia for the last 12 years.

Edward reports to Chito Jeyarajah, Head of Equity Capital Markets, Asia Pacific.

Joy Wang

Joy Wang now leads the Southeast Asia equities research team from Singapore, bringing her multi-sector experience alongside deep expertise in the region’s Real Estate sector.

A top-ranked Research Analyst with over a decade of experience, Joy joins HSBC from Deutsche Bank, Singapore, where she was Co-Head of APAC Property Equity Research and the Head of Singapore and Malaysia Equity Research. She began her career covering Singapore and ASEAN Real Estate at JPMorgan, Singapore.

Joy reports to Gavin Powell, Head of Markets and Securities Services, Singapore, and Eliot Camplisson, Head of Equities Research, Asia Pacific.

HSBC Singapore has progressively built out its regional coverage since 2018 to capture growth opportunities in Southeast Asia with a string of senior appointments, including most recently the appointments of Patrice Conxicoeur to CEO Singapore and Head of South East Asia, HSBC Global Asset Management and Philip Lee to Vice Chairman of Global Banking, Southeast Asia.
